Star Wars:
I'm a level 50ish Jedi Knight, not all that familiar with the universe to be honest although I did grow up watching the original three movies over and over and of course I saw the next six in the theaters. I really enjoy meditating at the temple on Tython, have gotten some real life benefits out of meditation, mindfulness, positive thinking, I am Unitarian Universalist (lapsed) in real life and have had some really influential and wonderful experiences at Budhist and Shinto temples as a tourist long ago. I hear you can rewire your brain to form new pathways based on the way you practice thinking-- like sports or homework-- even. The actual real life force? Well, idk, not precisely that. I'm sure it's inspired by something. That said I have absolutely loved decorating strongholds and roleplaying them, frankly by myself, but sharing the pictures with others. I also really enjoy the roleplay (by myself) aspect as I go along the story of this game. Tython and Balmorra were especially fun. I thought Dr Godera was also a fun plot. That Death Mark plot is evil omg I hope nothing like that exists irl! I have met people IRL who thrive on pain and physically hurting people for the sheer sake of doing so and they are the sickest people on earth, it is the easiest thing ever to get behind fighting the Sith, although important not to become them. That said:
BULLSHIT Star Wars video game. I am not going to help "take down the Black Hole in Labor Valley at the request of the agents of SIS"
Guild Wars 2:
I have had many characters, especially a Sylvari (tree elf) Tempest (water healer and lightning ranged damage spell caster, primarily, though also fire, earth, and arcane). I particularly enjoy gliding, which a friend I made early in the game helped me get. It feels a little bit like springboard diving, and I was a mediocre diver from elementary school through high school (also a really horrible gymnast). The Pale Tree has an especially nice philosophy, that I enjoyed going and reading and rereading. I also really liked the start area for the Sylvari, and sometimes played it again and again just because I liked how it reminded me of central and northern Minnesota, but in a nicer way. I was living elsewhere at the time. I also liked Diessa Plateau for that reason. I am not a remarkably good video gamer, though I've gotten better since the beginning when I couldn't even walk across a bridge without falling off, so I have never really succeeded at getting all the necessary mounts to keep playing, or even continuing the plot past mostly the beginning chapters. I am not very helpful in team areas, can't do jumping puzzles, terrible at PvP. But I enjoy playing the stories and open world over and over in the easy areas and listening to the chat. I used to talk but realized eventually how many people were listening, and stopped. Oops. I also have Asura characters (little ET-like scientists) and I love their starting area a lot too. I also have Norn characters (Scandinavian like characters that worship animal spirits). Unsurprisingly, I also love their starting area. I certainly am aware of the fact that the human and animal characters are popular among other people, but I don't really like their stories as much, not because they're human or animal, but because I don't like the setting or plots as well in those areas, and the world built around them. My second favorite play style is guardian, I also like necromancer for the way it plays, but it is not so good for roleplay in my opinion with my preferences for characters. I enjoy ranger for roleplay, but I don't like the way ranger fights. Engineer seems like it should be fun, but in practice I really detest and loathe guns from personally terrifying and horrifying real life experiences where my life was in daily danger for years from someone I love (my ex husband) so I really just don't want anything to do with them. Too bad, because an engineer asura would be awesome, right? Oh yeah, and Thurmanova Reactor is obviously the best.
Final Fantasy XIV:
Uh... anything but a human. Uh... what's the plot again? Uh... I love Gridania (the wooded city with an aura of elves about it that always feels like the sun is breaking through the clouds, even when it is raining) especially, like the sea city a lot (totally would be a sailor in another life), and really can't stand the desert city with the authoritarian creepy cartel and a necromancer's city on a hill just outside of it. Final Fantasy XIV has terrible issues in terms of playability for dungeons with regards to seizures. I have not had this problem with SWTOR yet.
World of Warcraft:
Tried to destroy one computer, won't run on another. It was awesome while it lasted though
The Elder Scrolls Online:
1) that control interface drives me insane
2) so you have to die and start over ever ten minutes and do the entire tutorial again?????
2005ish: Master of Space and Time; and Grow; were two absolutely amazing games. Escape the room games were in general amazing
2000ish My friends played Doom but I really didn't like it. My friends played with an old nintendo but they didn't really give me a turn. Eventually, Pickmen, for like a month
1990s: Myst, Kings Quest, Lemmings, Goblins, Day of the Tentacle, You Don't Know Jack. Gameboy
Insanely early 1990s and late 1980s: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Oregon Trail, Outnumbered, EZ Logo (the turtle programming game), Dino Park Tycoon. Gameboy
